Knitted Socks

I love wearing knitted socks. They keep my feet so warm and comfy. I have been wearing a pair of my own knitted socks everyday since the beginning of winter, so I am really excited to add another pair to my collection.

8- Sprouted
Yarn: Cascades Yarns' Heritage Sock Yarn in Iris
Needle Size: 1 1/2 (2.5mm) 9 inch circular needles
Pattern Source: Glynis from Sock Innovation

This is the eighth pattern from Sock Innovation that I have knit. I am absolutely in love with this book and plan to make at least one more project from it. Every pattern is fantastic and this one is no exception. The lace pattern is interesting and well-written. Another fantastic pair of socks from Cookie A!

First COs of the year

Not only did I cast on one project since the beginning of the new year, I have added another WIP this past week. Both projects are socks and I am enjoying each of them for their own reasons:

stretch - These are a pair of socks that I am knitting for the boyfriend. I wanted a pattern that would be easy to remember and also be portable. This has turned out to be the perfect pattern - it consists of 2 rounds that are repeated. Perfect for an on-the-go project. I am using the Simple Skyp Socks pattern (free Ravelry download) and Schoppel-Wolle Zauberball in Cafe Flair for this pair.

Sprouted - This is the eighth pair of socks from the Sock Innovation book. This time I am using the pattern Glynis. I am knitting very loose in order to be able to do all the k3tog and sssk. It took a little while to get used to these big decreases, but I really like the look that is created using them. I decided to use my Cascades Yarns' Heritage Sock Yarn in Iris to make this pair.

There you go - my two new projects. I can't wait to finish my socks so that I can start wearing them. In this cold weather I can sure use them!

Happy Knitting!

Last FO of 2013

On Monday I finished my last knitting project of 2013: a pair of socks for the boyfriend. They were supposed to be for Christmas, but I did not finish them in time. He had to wait an extra week for them, but they were worth it, I think.

7- Zig-Zagged:
Needle Size: US 1 1/2 (2.5mm)
Pattern Source: Cauchy from the book Sock Innovation

They turned out really nice,  and I like the yarn he picked out (I make him pick out the yarn he wants for his socks - I would never have thought he would have liked this yarn). The pattern was modified for a man's size, (I have the modifications on my project page on Ravelry). This was an easy knit, it took me a long time to knit them because I could only work on them when the boyfriend wasn't around.
Now on to my first cast-on of 2014 - I think it will be another pair of socks, but this time for me!
