Why didn't I think of this?

Sometimes you look at a picture of something online and you wonder: "Why didn't I think of that?" This idea of cross-stitching on crocheted fabric is brilliant! The result looks so great and it is such an easy way to add detail to a simple project. This Home Sweet Home Pillow from the Purl Bee is just too cute.

Some Cross-Stitching

I am already starting to think about Christmas presents (yes Christmas!). I have to start early enough so I can get everything I want done. This year I am thinking of doing smaller projects and I already completed one. There is a big book lover in my family so I was thinking of making a set of bookmarks to give her. This is the first one that I have made, the pattern is mostly taken from the Kincavel Krosses blog. There are some brilliant patterns to be found there and this 'Hands Off My Book' bookmark is just perfect. I played around with the pattern a bit and I think it came out great!

I plan on making two more and I already have the designs ready to go, I just have to treck out to the store to buy more bookmarks!

Inner Driver Key Chain

Me and my boyfriend bought ourselves a Mazda 2 a few months ago. I love the car, it is a lovely lime green color and it's just amazing to drive. You have probably seen the commercials for it, it's the one with the little green alien guy (they call him Inner Driver). I wanted to make myself a key chain for my key, but it had to have the Inner Driver logo on it to match the car (I'm weird like that). So this weekend I managed to put together a little 'pillow' key chain for myself. I knew it had to be big enough so that I could easily find it at the bottom of my purse and this came out the perfect size. Sometimes things just work out the way you plan, this was one of those cases! 

The back view of the key chain is a simple key image that I found on Flickr. 

So excited!

As I was scrolling through my blog reading list this morning, I came across an announcement for a giveaway winner, and guess what? I WON! 

 I had entered a giveaway last week over on Sew, Vintage, So Fun to win this kit. It is a really cute blog that I found through another giveaway at Wild Olive. I am so excited about receiving this embroidery kit, I have been wanting to start embroidery for a while, but I didn't know where to start! This couldn't be a more perfect way to start off my day! A non-needlework post

I have a real problem wearing earrings. After a few hours of having them in, my ear starts to get red and swollen, and it gets really painful. I've tried all kinds of earrings, but it is always the same result. So when I found this shop on Etsy, I was so excited! Catchall Jewelry has some really beautiful, affordable items for sale including unique 'cuffs' for your ears.

I bought a Brass Swirl Ear Cuff and I wear it every chance I get, it's perfect. I love the idea of the cuff, you don't need a piercing to wear it! Go check out this wonderful shop whenever you get the chance.

I love putting my photos up on Flickr. It's just a great way to sort and share your photos, as well as look at photos from other people. I always put up the photos of my finished projects on my Lazy Daisy Knits account. I also love browsing through different groups, especially The Subversive Cross Stitch Group, some of these projects make me laugh out loud! Crazy for Knitting is another group I look through for inspiration and some awesome ideas, I just can't believe how creative people are! If you want to see some darn cute and interesting knitted stuffed toys, go on over to Mochimochi Friends.

Those are just some of the really great groups that are out there for you to discover. I find that the best way to start on Flickr is just to search something you are interested in, you will probably find a lot of other people who have already posted pictures of it!

FO from this week

I had plenty of left-over yarn from my Granny-Square Vest and I wanted to use the rest of it up. I found a great pattern for a market bag in the 'Stitch 'n Bitch Superstar Knitting' book, it was so easy and was great for some mindless knitting. I have used these when I went grocery shopping and they work great.

This is not the greatest picture of them, but the colors are really great and the yarn is perfect for this project.
