My Christmas presents

After slaving away 4 months trying to get everything knitted in time for Christmas, I finally got to give everything away. It took a whole suitcase to bring my knitted gifts to my parents' house. I knit a shawl for my mom and my grandmother, a hat for my grandfather, a scarf and a hat for each my boyfriend and my dad. My little sister got a scarf and a hat and my other little sister got a hat and my grandmother got a lap blanket (The Hangover blanket, pictured above). That was by far the hardest project for me to complete since I had never attempted to do different colored designs within a pattern before. Needless to say, I succeeded in teaching myself how to do it. Everyone was extremely happy with my gifts and I'm just really happy I got it all done in time (I've decided that for next year I'll probably start knitting in July).

I also did 6 differently colored scarves to give out to my aunts. They were a huge success and extremely easy to do. Here is the pattern:

1 ball of Lion Brand Yarn Homespun (in any color)
Size 13 needles

CO 18 stitches
Knit in garter stitch until piece measures desired length (I did it until about 62"). Bind off.

See? Easy! But they have a very nice effect and will be appreciated by all.

Another great hit was the shawl that I knit for my mom. I wanted to make her something that would keep her warm in during the long, cold Montreal winter. I found a pattern from Lion Brand Yarn using Vanna's Choice. It worked out fantastic and it looks great.

Now that Christmas is over, I'm looking towards the next event in the family. It will be someone's birthday soon and I am working hard on having their present done in time.
