Square 4 complete!

I am finally catching up in the KAL I joined last August. I have managed to complete the square for November, and I am starting on December's square. So far this one is definitely my favorite  - the pattern had only 1 mistake (the directions for 1/1rc and 1/1 lc are reversed)!

I have not blocked it yet - I will do that when all the squares are done.

Boyfriend Blanket - Square #4 (November):

Yarn: Phentex Worsted in Blue
Needles: Size 7

I have begun to knit the December square, I am hoping to catch up with the KAL before it ends in July. Fingers crossed.
Until next time, Happy Knitting!

Square 3 complete!

I have continued to make progress on the KAL I joined way back in August. I have now managed to complete the square for October! YAY! I know I am still behind but I am slowly catching up and I have even started on November's square. I love not being in school. I can actually knit!

I have not blocked it yet, I want to do all the squares at the same time so they all come out the same size - but you get the idea.

Boyfriend Blanket - Square #3 (October):

Yarn: Unknown worsted weight, blue yarn
Needle Size: Size 7
Pattern Source: Ravelry

This pattern was far from perfect. There are plenty of mistakes in the chart and I had to rip back twice to figure them out (and it's still not done right - the bottom of the square is not done correctly, but I couldn't bear to rip back one more time). I would not recommend this pattern to anyone. I pretty much had to figure out the pattern for myself after looking at other people's finished squares. The knit/purl directions were wrong, the cable directions were reversed, and the seed stitch directions were wrong. I enjoyed knitting it once I had figured out how to do it, but it was really frustrating to begin with. If this had been the first chart back in August, I never would have attempted to complete the KAL. Though it was worth it in the end, it came out great and I love how it looks.

Two-at-a-Time Mandalas

A wonderful lady that I work with gave me her humongous stash of yarn last month. After sorting through bagfuls of yarn, I realized that she had given me enough bulky weight yarn to make a couple of lap blankets. I found the perfect pattern for the yarn and started to crochet immediately.

Two-At-A-Time Mandalas:

Yarn: Baycrest Shetland-Style in a variety of colours (this yarn has been discontinued)
Crochet Hook: J (6.00mm)
Pattern Source: Crochet with Raymond - Free Pattern!

Considering I made two of these at the same time, this project went extremely fast. The pattern is great and there is even pictures that accompany it to make sure you are able to do everything it requires. Even if you are new to crochet (as I am) this was a great, fast project that I would highly recommend.

Square 2 of the knitalong

I joined a KAL way back in August. We are supposed to knit 1 square a month for a year, and at the end, you have a beautiful blanket. Needless to say I fell a little behind after the first square.
I finally managed to get the September square finished this week, and have since moved on to the October square (I am having some trouble with that one...). So better late then never!

Boyfriend Blanket - Square #2 (September):
Yarn: Unknown worsted weight, blue yarn
Needles: Size 7
Pattern Source: Ravelry

If you are not a fan of cables, this pattern is definitely not for you. I don't mind doing them but they take me a lot of time, so it takes me a long time to complete just one square. Though in the end, it will have been worth it!

Some Teeny-Tiny Mochimochis

A while back I ordered the book Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi and I vowed that I would knit up all the little creatures in the book. Well, I haven't knitted them all up yet, but I did manage to get 3 of them done between going to class, working and doing homework!

The first one I made is the Tiny Alien, how cute is he?

The next one I made was the Tiny Elephant, adorbs!

Lastly, I made the fish. I just love the extra detail of the bubbles!

To make these guys I used some left over sock yarn from previous projects and size 0 DPNs. I will keep working on making more of these and I will keep you posted!
